Tonja’s Place is a community-centered nonprofit dedicated to helping single parents and families regain their independence by removing one of the biggest barriers they face today: reliable transportation.
We provide refurbished vehicles, short-term auto insurance support, and access to certification and licensing programs that help parents get back to work, care for their children, and rebuild their stability with dignity.
Our mission is simple and rooted in compassion:
To empower families through access to reliable transportation, practical support, and pathways that open the door to new opportunities.
We believe every parent deserves the chance to move forward, provide for their family, and experience life without transportation holding them back.
Transportation is one of the most overlooked barriers to stability, yet it impacts every part of a family's ability to move forward. Without reliable transportation, access to opportunity becomes limited and inconsistent.
Families are often forced to navigate life without the ability to:
• maintain consistent employment
• ensure their children arrive safely to school or care
• access essential healthcare
• complete education, certification, and workforce training programs
• build and sustain long-term financial stability
Without transportation, opportunity is not just delayed, it is denied.
Tonja’s Place exists to close this gap by providing structured support that creates immediate relief and long-term pathways to opportunity. This work is deeply personal and rooted in lived experience.
Tonja’s Place was founded in honor of my mother, Tonja, a woman who fought hard, loved deeply, and believed in helping others rise. My life changed when I was given access to a reliable vehicle during a time of need. That moment became the foundation for this mission. If one car can change a life, imagine what is possible for an entire community.
Tonja’s Place is built on three core values:
Compassion
Community
Empowerment
Tonja's Place is not a one-time assistance program. We are a structured mobility model designed to create lasting stability.
While many organizations provide temporary transportation support, Tonja's Place addresses the full lifecycle of mobility, connecting transportation to workforce readiness, financial literacy, and long-term independence.
We don't just meet urgent needs. We build pathways.
What sets Tonja's Place apart:
We treat transportation as infrastructure, not a short-term fix
• Access to a vehicle is positioned as a foundational tool for stability, employment consistenct, and economic mobility, not a one-time resource.
We combine direct support with education and accountability
• Participants receive not only transportation support, but also insurance literacy, vehicle maintanence education, and workforce readiness training to ensure long-term success.
We focus on outcomes, not just services
• Our model tracks participant progress from entry to completion, measuring stability indicators such as employment consistency, program completion, and increased financial independence.
We prioritize sustainability over dependency
Tonja's Place is designed to provide structured, time-bound support that empowers participants to maintain progress beyond the program.
We are built from lived experience
• This model was not created from theory. It was built from real life barriers, real gaps, and real solutions that have already proven to change lives.
At Tonja's Place, transportation is not the end goal. It is the starting point for everything that comes next. We don't jus give keys. We unlock stability.
We lead with understanding, meeting families where they are while helping them move forward with clarity and support.
We believe stability is built together. Through partnerships and shared responsibility, we create a network that supports lasting change.
We equip families with the tools, knowledge, and access needed to restore independence and build long-term stability.
These are not just principles. They guide how we serve, how we partner, and how we measure impact.
